About 2,000 Nepali people live in New Hampshire, and Lakpa Sherpa, president of the New Hampshire Nepali Community, said most have relatives in Nepal.

Rescue workers have been searching through mud and debris for survivors of Wednesday’s deadly flash floods on the Nepal-Tibet border.

Nepal police said Friday morning that the country's death toll had risen to 469 from 390 a day earlier, as rescuers recover more bodies amid the debris.
